Support for a new meeting-place in Visby for the Baltic Sea region
The Government decided today to contribute SEK 40 million as part financing of the construction of a congress hall in Visby. The Swedish Business Development Agency, NUTEK, will be responsible for managing the contribution which will be taken from the Baltic Billion Fund 1. NUTEK will also carry out a final assessment of the project. “Through today’s decision the Government is supporting the efforts that Gotland is making to become an attractive meeting-place for all actors who are working for increased cooperation in the Baltic Sea region,” Minster Jan O. Karlsson said in a comment. “A congress hall could be just such a meeting-place and, in addition, contribute to creating many new job opportunities which Gotland so urgently needs. The Government will now request NUTEK to carry out the final assessment of the project, among other things to ensure that the project has a sound commercial basis.” said Jan O. Karlsson. source: www.sweden.gov.se
